Heart of the Crew

There's a pause in the action.  Time to take a breath.

And time to take stock of everything accomplished so far while gathering remaining energies for a push to the finish.

Heart of the crew.
You see it, perhaps for the first time.
It's what you're about.
It's who you are.

John Dakin, Media Contact for the 2015 World Championships, released the following update:

Czech Republic racer Ondrej Bank crashed off the final Red Tail Jump during Sunday’s Alpine Combined competition at the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Beaver Creek.  Bank was treated at the scene and then transported to the Vail Valley Medical Center in Vail for evaluation of a head injury, possible leg injury and facial lacerations.

At the hospital, Bank underwent a CT head scan, which was clear, and the athlete is doing well.  It has been confirmed that Bank suffered a concussion, facial lacerations and a leg contusion.  The hospital, in coordination with the Czech Team doctor, have not determined whether it will be necessary to keep him overnight for observation.

Bank lost a ski just prior to the lip of the jump and crashed through the last gate and into the finish area.  He was promptly attended to by the World Championships medical team and transported by ambulance to the hospital in Vail.

Bode To Retire

Bode Miller spoke with the Associated Press about his potential future, following this week's injury and resulting surgery.

Bode said:  “I tried retiring a couple of times and it just didn’t really stick so, but at some point enough things conspire together and it does stick.  I’m not one of those people who needs a grand showing off or parade or anything. I just won’t be there. I’m leaning pretty heavy towards notnot going out there anymore.  I love racing. but I just don't know,"

2013 Race Winners at Beaver Creek

Race Crew and Talon Crew were winners too.  What Ceil Folz, President, Vail Valley Foundation had to say:

Our team on the mountain, both our Beaver Creek Mountain Operations team and our volunteer Talon Crew were amazing.  What they achieved from the moment they began building the courses to the last racers’ turn on Dec. 8 was nothing short of miraculous.

The dedication and skill that we see from this team is unparalleled in the world.  Yes, in the world.  Just ask the Austrians, the French, the Swiss, the Italians and the Scandinavians.  Just ask the very best skiers in the world what they think of our team on the hill and they will tell you. There is nobody better, anywhere. If they could take our team on the road with them, they would.  They are that good.
